Louis Craig Carpenter
Carpenter Wood Turner
Introducing
Louis is a carpenter and woodturner from London. He initially studied illustration and worked in printmaking, producing fine art editions for artists, galleries and his own illustrative practice.
This eye for detail and precision, combined with the physicality of printmaking, led him to discover a passion for woodworking. Louis took a job at the prestigious Bellerby & Co Globemakers, where he trained as a carpenter and woodturner. Here, he applied his meticulous craftsmanship to creating stands for globes, serving customers worldwide.
Louis then went on to work with Wilkinson Rivera, producing their chairs, furniture and homewares showcased in exhibitions such as London Design Festival (LDF), Milan Salone and across the US.
At Grandey’s Place, Louis works with Jonathan Wright to create bespoke wooden stands for contemporary and historical globes. He also makes and designs his own furniture, taking inspiration from Scandinavian and Japanese design as well as turning bowls and centerpieces.
Alongside this he accepts commissions for furniture and turned goods from a variety of clients.
